Why Lightweight Fabrics Are a Must for Custom Shirts This Summer
There’s nothing quite like Summer in Australia. The chirp of cicadas, the lure of the beach and the consistent sunshine make it a pretty magical time of year. However, all of these things are also a sure fire sign that the weather is heating up. And while for the lucky, this might be a time to stretch out and relax, for many, duty still calls.
This, of course, raises the age-old question of how do you balance office appropriate attire with weather that calls for anything but? Here at Oscar Hunt, we think we have the answer: lightweight tailored shirts.
This week, we’ll be diving into our preferred options, alongside some scorching hot tips on how best to style them.
Let’s dive in!
The best fabrics for summer shirts
For us, there are really only two options worth considering for shirts when the mercury starts to rise: cotton and linen.
While cotton is a year round staple, lightweight varieties offer the perfect blend of crispness and breathability meaning that they can comfortably survive the office commute in even the hottest of weather. Our tip is to opt for white in a tailored summer shirt where possible. Other popular pale colours like pink and blue show sweat marks more easily and are therefore best avoided.
Balancing style with comfort
One of the major benefits of a custom summer shirt is that it seamlessly balances comfort with a more elevated silhouette. To be clear, this is a far cry from the boxy linen shirts that you’re used to seeing off the rack and that’s because each shirt is completely unique to you and your body type. This can quickly elevate what might otherwise be a standard cotton shirt for summer and transform it into something more dressy.
Versatility at their core
One of the things that we pride ourselves on at Oscar Hunt is creating garments that can be worn over time, for many occasions. And that’s why our comfortable shirts for hot weather are just as at home tucked into a pair of tailored trousers for a day in the office as they are worn over shorts for a relaxed backyard dinner.
