2025 Trends in Business Suits: Modern Tailoring for Today’s Professionals
Oscar Hunt has proudly been crafting business suits for some of Australia’s most prominent movers and shakers for over a decade and, as a result, it uniquely positions us to provide a view on the key business suit trends for the coming year. So, whether you’re hitting the office every day or popping in on the odd occasion, buckle up for the key things to know about professional suit styles as we head into 2025.

Business suits for men
When it comes to custom tailoring for professionals we always err on the side of ‘evolution not revolution.’ And that’s because we’re passionate about creating pieces that customers can wear for years to come. Not just for a season.
In light of that, the key trends that we’re seeing for 2025 are riffs on classics.
The first is around silhouettes. Increasingly, we’re seeing a shift towards more 1940s inspired styles of tailoring with a particular emphasis on looser fitting trousers. This makes for a particularly elegant shape, especially when contrasted with a slimmer fitting jacket.
From a pattern perspective, we’re also seeing customers opt for timeless styles like pin stripes over charcoal and navy. Contrasted against a crisp white shirt, these suits are pieces that’ll serve wearers for seasons to come and are a great way to inject a little extra oomph into your suit collection.

Business suits for women
In the world of womenswear, we’re seeing similar patterns emerge to those in menswear. Specifically in relation to professional suit styles, there is a growing emphasis on more masculine inspired silhouettes such as squarer shoulders, wider lapels and a looser overall fit.
In terms of suit styling, double breasted is back in a big way but with a decidedly fresh twist. Think elements like contrasting coloured buttons and long line jackets that really work to elongate the body. We’re also seeing these being styled with accessories like neck ties or worn over singlets or bandeau tops for a more contemporary take.
From a fabric perspective, this is going to be the year of pattern and texture. As in menswear, there will be a focus on classics like pinstripes and windowpane checks as well as more textural cloth like linen.
